People who fail to get what they want, pretend that they never wanted it, in order to save their image. This proverb comes from the story where a fox tried hard to reach a bunch of grapes but it failed every time it tried. Finally the fox unable to bear the failure went and told around that the grapes were unripe and that is why it was not interested to have it.
