Given,

Radius of the circle is 7cm

As shown in the figure,

Side of the square=2\times 7=14cm

Area of four quadrants=Area of one circle

⇒Area of four quadrants=\pi r^{2}

⇒Area of four quadrants=\pi (7\times 7)=154cm^{2}

And Area of square=(14\times 14)=196

∴ Area of the shaded portion=Area of square-Area of four quadrants

⇒Area of the shaded portion=196-154=42cm^{2}

∴ Area of the shaded portion is 42cm^{2}
