Given  : Clock time 12:30

To Find : radian measure of the angle between the minute hand of a clock and the hour hand

Solution:

Minute hand movement = 2π   in 1 hour

Hour hand movement  = 2π/12  = π/6  in 1 hour

Time in 12 : 30

Hence with in 30 Minutes = 1/2 hr

Minute hand movement   =  2π * (1/2)  = π

Hour hand movement  = ( π/6 ) (1/2)  = π/12

radian measure of the angle between the minute hand of a clock and the hour hand at 12:30  = π - π/12  

= 11π/12  

= 165° ( in degrees)

The radian measure of the angle between the minute hand of a clock and the hour hand at 12:30  is 11π/12
