Answer :

  • The ratio of their volumes are 18 : 48

Given :

  • The radii of two cylinder is in the ratio of 3:4
  • Height are in the ratio 2 : 3

To find :

  • Ratio of their volumes

Solution :

(Method (2) :

  • Let the radii be 3x and 4x
  • Let the height be 2y and 3y

As we know that,

  • Ratio of volume = r²h/R²H

where , r is 3x , h is 2y and R is 4x , H is 3y

》(3x)² × 2y / (4x)² × 3y

》18/48

》18 : 48

Hence ,The ratio of their volumes are 18 : 48

(2) Method (2) :

  • Let the radius of first cylinder be 3x
  • Let the radius of second cylinder be 4x

  • Let the height of first cylinder be 2y
  • Let the height of second cylinder be 3y

Now , First cylinder :

》π × (3 × x)² × 2 × y

Now , Second cylinder :

》π × (4 × x)² × 3 × y

Now , Ratio :

》π × (3 × x)² × 2 × y / π × (4 × x)² × 3 × y

》18/48

》18 : 48

The ratio of their volumes are 18 : 48
