The radius of a circle is 17.0 cm and the length of perpendicular drawn from its centre to a chord is 8.0 cm. Calculate the length of the chord.​

Answer:

Given radius = 17cm

Perpendicular length is 8 cm

Join the line centre to chord end = radius =17

By phyathagorous theorem

Absq = bcsq +ac Sq

17sq= 8sq +xsq

289 = 64 +xsq

289-64=xsq

225 = xsq

X= Root under 225

X=15 cm

Chord length = 2x

2*15 = 30 cm the length of chord is 30 cm
