Given :

  • Radius of the circle (r) = 3.5 cm

To find :

  • The circumference of the circle
  • The area of the circle

Solution :

Here we shall use two formulas for finding our results. One for finding the circumference of the circle and one for finding the area of the circle. Radius is already given.

For the circumference of the circle:-

  • 2πr

2 × 22/7 × 3.5

44/7 × 3.5

44 × 0.5

22 cm

For the area of the circle:-

  • πr²

22/7 × 3.5 × 3.5

22/7 × 12.25

22 × 1.75

38.5 cm²

Answer :

  • Circumference of the circle = 22 cm
  • Area of the circle = 38.5 cm²

\huge \sf{\underline{To \:  Find}} :

The circumference and area of a circle whose radius is 3.5 cm.

\large\bold{\underline{Given}} \:  -

  • Radius of the circle = 3.5 cm

\small\bold{\underline{Formulae  \: to  \: be  \: used}} \:  -

 {\underline{\orange{\boxed{\tt{Circumference  \: of \:  a  \: circle  = 2πr}}}}}

 {\underline{\orange{\boxed{\tt{Radius \:  of  \: a  \: circle = πr²}}}}}

\huge \bold{\underline{\underline{Solution}}}  \: -

(i) Circumference of this circle = 2πr

 \implies \: {2} \times  \frac{22}{  {\tiny1}\not{7}}  \times  \frac{ { \tiny5}\not{35}}{10} \\  \\  \implies \: 2 \times 22 \times  \frac{ { \tiny1}\not{5}}{ { \tiny2}\not{10}}\\  \\  \implies{ \not{2}} \times 22 \times \frac{1}{ \not{2}}  \\  \\  \implies \:  {\boxed{\boxed{\bold{22cm}}}}

(ii) Area of this circle = πr²

 \implies \:  \frac{22}{7}  \times 3.5 \times 3.5 \\ \\  \implies  \frac{22}{7}  \times 12.25 \\ \\  \implies \frac{269.5}{7}  = 38.5 \\  \\  \implies  {\boxed {\boxed{ \bold{38.5 cm}}}}

Therefore,

  • Circumference = 22cm.
  • Radius = 38.5cm.
