The radius of a circle is 30 cm. Find the lenght of an arc of this circle if the length of chord of the arc is 30 cm.

SOLUTION

The radius is 30 cm & also the chord is also 30cm hence, the ∆ formed is a equilateral∆ .

As all its sides are equal in length.

Now each of its angle will be 60° . Which can also be written as π/3.

Now to find the length of arc we have ∅= l/r where l is length of arc.

Implies l= ∅× r

=) π/3× 30 = 31.4cm
