R (radius) = 17cm
CA (Chord) = 30cm
Line drawn from the center of the circle to a chord bisects the chord.
⇒CA/2 = 30/2 = 15cm
Join AB,
In ΔADB,
D being the point where the line drawn from the center to the chord meets,
AB² = AD² + DB²
⇒ DB² = AB² - AD²
⇒ DB² = 17² + 15²
⇒ DB² = 289 - 225
⇒ DB = √64cm
⇒ DB = 8cm
∴, The distance of Chord From the Center = 8cm.
