Given,

Radius of the circle = 40 cm

Perpendicular drawn from the centre of circle, on the chord = 24 cm

To find,

The Length of the given chord.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Here, if we visualise the three given components, then we will get a right angle triangle where,

Hypotenuse = Radius of circle = 40 cm

Height = Drawn Perpendicular = 24 cm

Base = Half of chord = Let, x cm

According to the Pythagoras theorem,

(x)²+(24)² = (40)²

x²+ 576 = 1600

x² = 1024

x = 32

Length of chord = 32×2 = 64 cm

Hence, the Length of the chord is 64 cm
