the radius of the circumcircle of a right triangle is 5 cm and the altitude drawn to the hypotenuse is 3.5 cm find the area of triangle.

please show with proper diagram

as we know the diameter of circumcircle is the hypotenuse of right angled triangle .....

radius of circle = 5 cm

so diameter = 2 ×5 = 10 cm

now altitude drawn to hypotenuse makes right angle on hypotenuse.

so considering hypotenuse as base of triangle and altitude drawn on it as height ..


area of triangle = 1/2 × base × height

= 1/2 × 10 × 3.5

= 17.5 sq cm
