Volcanoes are reservoirs of magma, lava, rocks, acids and gases and more often than not, wherever there is a volcano there is likely to be rain, lightening and thunder due to the charged ash particles attracting water droplets.

The rain post volcanic eruption is bound to be laden with poisonous gases and is likely to be “acidic rain.” With high levels of sulphur dioxide and lava, the gas mixes with the oxygen and water vapour in the air and sunlight and forms as sulphuric acid and passes as acid rain that is harmful to life. One of the real life example is Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano.
