Explanation:

(i) In India, rainfall is orographic in nature as heavy rains occurs on the windward slopes of the Western Ghats and scanty rainfall on the leeward side. Thus, Mahabaleshwar lying on the windward side receives more than 250 cm of rainfall, while Pune on the leeward side records less than 70 cm of rainfall.

(ii) Most of India's rainfall is convectional. The convectional rainfall is prevalent in equatorial regions. In these, the warm air rises up and expands then, reaches at a cooler layer and saturates, then condenses mainly in the form of cumulus or cumulonimbus clouds.

(iii) The most common type of rainfall in India is relief rainfall.

It is formed when air is raised over hills and mountains. As it rises the air gets cooled and condensed to form rain. It usually occurs in coastal areas.

(iv) Most of India's rainfall is convectional. The convectional rainfall is prevalent in equatorial regions. In these, the warm air rises up and expands then, reaches at a cooler layer and saturates, then condenses mainly in the form of cumulus or cumulonimbus clouds.
