Rainfall (h) = 4cm = 0.04m

area = 4 hectares = 40000 m^2

volume of rainfall = area × h

=> V = 40000×0.04 = 1600 m^3

1 m^3 = 1000 litres

1600 m^3 = 1600 × 1000 = 1.6 × 10^6 litre

Hence, 1.6 million litres of water fell on the field that day.
