Hey there!

We know that n whole numbers 0,1,2,3,4,5.................. n.

so consider a example :- range of first 2 whole numbers

0,1 are first two whole numbers. So n doesn't get included in first n whole numbers.

=====<>=======<>==========<>========

So first n whole numbers are 0,1,2,3,4.... n-1
we know that Range = Highest observation - Lower observation

=( n-1)-0

= n-1

The range of first n whole numbers is n-1

Answer:

The first n whole numbers are 0,1,2,3,4,.........(n-1).

Here we took (n-1) as the nth number because the whole numbers are started from 0, so the nth number will be (n-1).

Range = Highest value - Lowest value

Here,

Highest value = n-1

Lowest value = 0

Range = (n-1)-0=(n-1)

The range of first n whole numbers is (n-1).

I hope it is helpful.
