because the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water in much less than the amount on land, so they have to breathe more in order to get more oxygen

Answer:

The rate of breathing in aquatic animals is much faster than terrestrial organism because they take Oxygen which is dissolved in water and water has low affinity of oxygen. So they have to breath fast in just a short time. To get sufficient amount of oxygen.
