Formula : r1/r2 = (m2/m1) ^1/2

Given,

The rate of diffusion of methane is twice of a gas X

Let r1= rate of diffusion of methane = 2(r2)

r2 = rate od diffusion of gas X

M1=16

2(r2)/r2 = (m2/16)^1/2

Therefore M2 = 8

Hope this helps!!
