The ratio of the time taken by A and B is option b. 5:4

QUESTION:-

The rates of working of two taps A and B are in the ratio 4:5 the ratio of the time taken by A and B respectively to fill the given cistern is option

  • A. 4:5
  • B. 5:4
  • c. 5:6
  • d. 6:5

GIVEN:- Rates of working of two taps A and B = 4 : 5

TO FIND:- Ratio of the time taken by A and B

SOLUTION:-

  • Ratio 4:5 can be written as  \frac{4}{5}

As we know,

  • Work Done = Time Taken × Rate of Work.
  • Rate of Work = 1 / Time Taken.
  • Time Taken = 1 / Rate of Work.

According to the question we need to find the time taken.

We will use the Time Taken = 1 / Rate of Work formula because the Rate of work is given as 4:5 which means  \frac{4}{5}

By putting in the formula

Time Taken =

 =  \frac{1}{rate \: of \: work}  \\  =  \frac{1}{ \frac{4}{5} }  \\ =  1 \times  \frac{5}{4}  \\  =  \frac{5}{4}  \\

Can be written as 5 : 4

Hence, the ratio of the time taken by A and B is option b. 5:4
