males and females 3x and 7x
then 3X×75÷100=18000
3X×0.75=18000
2.25X=18000
X=18000÷2.25
=8000

pollution of the town 8000×10=80,000

The population of the town is 80,000

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

the ratio between males and female= 3:7

out of which 25% are male children and 30% are female children

number of adult males is 18000

To find:

total population of the town

Solution:

The ratio of males to females is given as 3:7

We take a common multiple y between that

So, let the number of males and females be 3y & 7y respectively

As we know the total population = males + females

∴ Total population = 3y+7y

∴ Total population = 10y

As we know 25% of the male population includes male children

Hence, the remaining percentage will include the adult males in the population

∴ adult population of males in percentage = 100% - 25%

∴ the adult population of males in percentage =75%

From given, adult males=  75% of the total male population

∴ adult males= 75% of 3y

∴ adult males= 75/100 x 3y

∴ adult males= 3/4 x 3y

∴ adult males= 9y/4

But, that is given in numbers as 18000

∴ 18000 = 9y/4

∴ 18000 x 4 = 9y

∴ 72000 = 9y

72000  = y

     9

∴ y = 8000

lastly, the total population is 10y

So total population of town = 10(8000)

Total population of town = 80,000

Therefore, the total population of the town is 80,000
