Solution :
p : q = 3 : 4
given,
q = 20 = 4x
so 4x = 20
x = 5
so P's present age = 3*5 = 15
after 5 years
p : q = (15+5) : (20+5) = 20 : 25
so p : q = 4 : 5

let the present ages of p and q be 3x and 4x years respectively.
q's age = 20 yrs.
4x = 20
x= 5
p's present age = 3x = 15 yrs.
Five years later, their ages,
q's age = 20+5 = 25 yrs.
p's age = 15+5 = 20 yrs.
Ratio of ages of p and q after 5 years=
20:25 = 4:5 ans.
q's age = 20 yrs.
4x = 20
x= 5
p's present age = 3x = 15 yrs.
Five years later, their ages,
q's age = 20+5 = 25 yrs.
p's age = 15+5 = 20 yrs.
Ratio of ages of p and q after 5 years=
20:25 = 4:5 ans.
