The ratio between the profit earned by selling an article for rs. 752 and the loss incurred when the same article is sold for rs. 400 is 6:5. What is the selling price of the article when it is sold at 14.28% profit?

let,

the cost price of the article be 'x'

and SP1=752 and SP2 = 400

GIVEN

profit / loss = 6/5

(SP1 - CP)/(CP - SP2) = 6/5

(752 - x) (x - 400) = 6/5

3760 - 5x = 6x -2400

6160 = 11x

x = 560

therefore, the cost price of the article is 560 ruppes

if the profit percentage is 14.28 then,

profit% =[(SP - CP) /CP]*100

14.28 = [(SP - 560)/560]*100

SP = 639.968 (APPOX = 700 RUS)

so, the sp of article is 700
