SOLUTION :

The ratio between two number = 2:3     (given)

Let first number be 2x

and second number be 3x

According to the question,

When the each number was increased by 4, the ratio becomes 5:7

So here is the equation-

\bf \frac{2x+4}{3x+4} = \frac{5}{7}

\bf 7(2x+4)=5(3x+4)    [ cross multiplication ]

\bf 14x + 28 = 15x +20

\bf 28-20=15x-14x

\bf 8=x

Hence

The first number is 2x = 2 × 8 = 16
