if they are increased by 2 the ratio is 7:9

we can say that (3x+2)÷(4x+2) = 7/9

on cross multiplication

 9(3x+2) = 7(4x+2)

27x+18   = 28x+14

27x-28x  =14-18

   -x        = -4

         x   = 4

hence the numbers are 3x,4x = 12 and 16
