and P(2,3) be the point which divides the line segment AB..

Here, x1=4,x2=-2, y1=8, y2=-7 and, m1=k, m2=1 and x=2 and y=3......

By section formula,

x= m1x2+m2x1/m1+m2

=> 2= k*-2+1*4/k+1

=> 2k+2=-2k+4

=> 4k=2

=> k=1/2.....

Since, ratio is k:1

(multiply 2 on both sides)

So, the ratio is 1:2.........
