Given : line segment joining the points A(a1,b1) and B(A2, b2) is divided by x axis

To Find : ratio

Solution:

At x axis  y coordinate is 0

A(a₁,b₁) and B(a₂, b₂)

Let say x axis divided points A & B in k : 1  Ratio

=> 0  =  (kb₂ + b₁)/(k + 1)

=> 0 = kb₂ + b₁

=>  kb₂  = -b₁

=> k =  -b₁/b₂

=> k : 1 =   -b₁  : b₂

ratio in which the line segment joining the points A(a1,b1) and B(A2, b2) is divided bz X axis  is -b₁  : b₂
