Answer :

  • Length of rectangle is 15m
  • Breadth of rectangle is 9m

Given :

  • The ratio of 2 sides of a rectangle is 3:5
  • Perimeter of rectangle is 48m

To find :

  • Dimensions of rectangle

Solution :

Given,

  • The ratio of 2 sides of a rectangle is 3:5 so,

  • Let the ratio be 3x and 5x

  • Let the length of rectangle be 5x
  • Let the breadth of rectangle be 3x

Given,

  • Perimeter of rectangle is 48m.

We know that

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

Where,

  • l is length of rectangle
  • b is breadth of rectangle

↦ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth)

↦ 48 = 2(5x + 3x)

↦ 5x + 3x = 48/2

↦ 8x = 24

↦ x = 24/8

x = 3.

Finding the dimensions of rectangle :

↦ Length = 5x

↦ Length = 5(3)

↦ Length = 15m

Length of rectangle is 15m.

↦ Breadth = 3x

↦ Breadth = 3(3)

↦ Breadth = 9m

Breadth of rectangle is 9m.

Hence

  • Length of rectangle is 15m
  • Breadth of rectangle is 9m

Verification :

↦ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

↦ 48 = 2(15 + 9)

↦ 48 = 2(24)

48 = 48

Hence , Verified
