Given:

Ratio of a : b : c = 2 : 4 : 3

The increment is 30% , 20% and 40% respectively

To FInd:

The new ratio

Solution

Define x:

Ratio of a : b : c = 2 : 4 : 3

a = 2x

b = 4x

c = 3x

Find the new ratio:

a = 2x + (30% of 2x)

a = 2x + (0.3)(2x)

a = 2x + 0.6x

a = 2.6x

b = 4x + (20% of 4x)

b = 4x + (0.2)(4x)

b = 4x + 0.8x

b = 4.8x

c = 3x + (40% of 3x)

c = 3x + (0.4)(3x)

c = 3x + 1.2x

c = 4.2x

The new ratio of a : b : c = 2.6 : 4. 8 : 4.2

Multiply the ratio by 10 to remove the decimals:

Ratio of a : b : c = 26 : 48 : 42

Simplify the ratio by dividing by 2:

Ratio of a : b : c = 13 : 24 : 21

Answer: The new ratio is 13 : 24 : 21
