let the ratio be 2x and 3x.
perimeter of a parallelogram = 2 ( l + B)
40 = 2 ( 2x + 3x )
40 /2 = 5x
20 = 5x
x = 20/ 5
x = 4
one side = 2x = 2*4 = 8 unit ans.
second side = 3x = 3*4 = 12 unit ans.

Let the length of one side of parallelogram be 2x
So, the length of it's adjacent side =3x
A/Q,
perimeter = 40 \\ 2(sum \: of \: adjacent \: side) = 40 \\ 2(2x + 3x) = 40 \\ 5x =  \frac{40}{2}  \\ 5x = 20 \\ x =  \frac{20}{5} \\ x = 4 \\ so \: one \: side  = 2x = 2 \times 4 = 8 \\ adjacent \: side = 3x = 3 \times 4 = 12
