GIVEN :

Ratio of ages a and b = 11 :8

Sum of their ages = 38 years

FIND :

Age after 8 years from now .

SOLUTION :

Let present age of "A" = x

So present age of "B" = x

A/q

x + x =38 + 8

=>2x = 46

=> x = 46÷2

=> x = 23

:. Present age of A = 23 yrs

Present age of B = 23 - 8 = 15 yrs

Ratio = 23 :15 ✔
