Present age ratio = 9:4
Present ages = 9x , 4x
3 years ago:
A's age = 9x - 3
B's age = 4x - 3
Given, 9x-3/4x-3 = 3/1
9x - 3 = 3*(4x-3)
9x - 3 = 12x - 9
3x = 6
x=2
Present age of A = 9x = 9*2 = 18 years
Present age of B = 4x = 4*2 = 8 years.
Hope it helps.
