Answer:

→ 35 years

Given:-

  • The ratio of ages of shyam and nidhi 5 years ago was 2:3
  • The ratio of their present age after 5 years would be 3:4

To find :-

  • The sum of present age

Step-by-step explanation:

→ As given in the question,

the ratio of their present age is 3 : 4

→ Let the common factor be x ( x > 0 )

→ Therefore,

The present age of Shyam is 3x years

The present age of Nidhi is 4x years

→ 5 years ago,

The age of Shyam was ( 3x - 5 ) years

The age of Nidhi was ( 4x - 5 ) years

→ Now, according to the question,

the ratio of their age 5 years ago was 2 : 3

→ So we get,

 \implies \sf \:  \dfrac{3x - 5}{4x - 5}  =  \dfrac{2}{3}

\implies \sf \:  9x - 15  = 8x - 10

\implies \sf \:  9x - 8x  = 15 - 10

 \implies \boxed{ \red{ \sf \: x = 5}}

 \red{ \sf \therefore The  \: present \:  age \:  of \:  Shyam  \: is (3 \times 5) = 15 years }

 \red{ \sf \: and  \: the \:  present \:  age \:  of  \: Nidhi \:  is (4 \times 5) = 20}

 \pink{ \underline{ \sf \: The \:  sum \:  of  \: their \:  present  \: age  \: is \:  15 + 20 = 35 years}}

Solution

Given,

  • the ratio of age of shyam and Nidhi five years ago was 2:3 .
  • the ratio of the present days after 5 years would be 3:4 .

To find ,

  • we have to find here the sum of present age .

So,

let the ratio be x .

after 5 years ;

  • (3x-5)(4x-5)

before 5 years

  • (3x-5)/(4x-5)=2/3

Now ,

the age of them after 5 years is ;

=> 3x-5/4x-5=2/3

=> 9x-15=8x-10

=> 9x-8x= 15-10

=> x = 5

There present age ;

Shyam : 3×5=15yrs

Nidhi : 4×5=20yrs

now the sum of their present age is ;

=> (15+20)yrs = 35yrs

The some of their present age is35yrs .
