Explanation:

the current ratio of boys and girls is 5:4

let the no. of boys and girls be 5x and 4x respectively

increase in the no. of boys is x*20%=x*20/100 =x/5

increase in the no. of girls is x*50%=x*50/100=x/2

so, the new no. of boys in the class=5x+x/5=26x/5

then, the new no. of girls in the class=4x+x/2=9x/2

so the new ratio of boys and girls in the class=26x/5=26x*2/5*9x

9x/2

=52x/45x = 52:45

The new ratio will be 1:1

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that ratio of boys and girls is 5:4

Let the no of boys be 5 x and girls be 4 x

Now no of boys increase by 20%

Now 20% of 5 x is = x

Now no of girls increase by 50%

And 50 % of 4 x is = 2 x

Now no of boys = 5 x + x = 6 x

 no of girls  = 4 x + 2 x = 6 x

So the new ratio is  6 x : 6 x = 1 : 1
