The ratio of boys and girls in a school is 3:2. If the total number of students ın that schodl is 500, find the number of boys and girls.

HERE'S THE ANSWER..

♠️ Let the number of boys be ( x ) and number of girls be ( y )

⏺️ Ratio of boys and girls is 3 : 2 , i.e

✔️ x / y = 3 / 2

=> x = 3 y / 2 __________( 1 )

⏺️ total number of students is 500 , i.e

✔️ x + y = 500 __________( 2 )


▶️ Now, by putting value of x in Eqn ( 2 )

=> x + y = 500

=> 3 y / 2 + y = 500

=> ( 3 y + 2 y ) / 2 = 500 // taking L.C.M.

=> 5 y = 500 × 2

=> 5 y = 1000

=> [ y = 200 ]✓✓


▶️ Now putting value of y in Eqn ( 2 )

=> x + y = 500

=> x + 200 = 500

=> x = 500 - 200

=> [ x = 300 ] ✓✓


♠️ Number of boys is 300 and number of girls is 200.
