The ratio of boys to girls in a class is 3:5. There are 32 students in the class. How many students are boys?

boys=3x

girls=5x

5x+3x=32

8x=32

x=32/8

x=4

5x=20

3x=12

so there are 20 girl and 12 boy students in the class
