let number of boys and girls be 3x and 5x  respectively

on arrival of six boys number of boys becomes 3x +6

remaining girls after 4 left = 5x -4

given that (3x + 6) / (5x -4 ) = 5/6

⇒ 6(3x + 6) = 5(5x -4)

⇒ 18x + 36 = 25x -20

⇒18x -25x = -20-36

⇒ -7x = -56

⇒ x = 56/7 = 8

original number of boys in party = 3x = 3 × 8 = 24

original  number of girls in party = 5x = 5 × 8 = 40.

Hence number of boys = 24 , number of girls = 40 , and total number in party is 64.

Big Party . Enjoy.
