Let the number of boys be 7x and number of girls be 5x

Given: The number of boys is 8 more than the number of girls

⇒7x=5x+8

⇒7x−5x=8

⇒2x=8

⇒x=
2
8

⇒x=4

Therefore, the number of boys =7×4

=28

And, the number of girls =5×4

=20

∴ Total number of students =20+28

=48

Therefore, the total class strength is 48

Answer:

If 3:5 is the ratio of boys to girls in the class, and the strength of the class is 296, then there are 111 boys and 185 girls in the class

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

The ratio of boys to girls in the class = 3:5

That is if 3x boys are there, then 5x girls will be there

Given total strength = 296

That is, 3x + 5x = 296

8x = 296

x = 296/8 = 37

So the number of boys = 3x = 3*37 =111

Number of girls = 5x = 5*37 = 185

So there are 111 boys and 185 girls in the class
