The ratio of circumference to the diameater of a circle c:d is represented by pi.But we say that pi is an irrantional number.why??

Yes you are right that the ratio of Circumference to the diameter of the circle can be c:d.

Where C = \tt 2\pi r = 2\pi\dfrac{d}{2}.

Which is represented by pi.

But Wait??

As we know that pi is an irrational number then how it can be expressed like this.

This is because the value of pi which we used to use is \tt \dfrac{22}{7}\ \ \ or\ \  3.14 which is a rational number.

But this is not the exact value of \tt\pi .

In todays modern world also the exact value of pi is not been calculated as even many super computers are also failed in calculating the exact value of pi.

So for calculations we used to use the exact value of pi which is 22/7 or 3.14 which is a rational number so it can be expressed like this.
