Solution :

Given, copper : zinc = 9 : 5

Let, x be the common multiple.

Then, weight of copper = 9x grams

and weight of zinc = 5x grams

By the given condition,

9x = 48.6

⇒ x = 48.6 ÷ 9

x = 5.4

∴ the weight of zinc in the alloy is (5 × 5.4) = 27 grams.

ratio of Cu&Zn= 9:5

Zn in the alloy=48.6x5/14=17.35g

Wt of alloy=x

Xx9/14 =48.6

x=75.6g

zn=75.6x5/i4=27g
