To Find : Cost of Pen and cost of Pencil

Solution:

ratio of cost of pen to cost of pencil is 31: 51  

Let say Cost of Pen = 31C

then Cost of Pencil  = 51C

Total Cost = 31C + 51C  = 82C

Total Cost  = 41

=> 82C = 41

=> C = 41/82

=> C = 1/2

Cost of Pen = 31C  = 31(1/2)  = 15.5  Rs

Cost of Pencil  = 51C = 51(1/2) = 25.5  Rs
