Given,

The ratio of expenditure and saving of a family is 11:4.

The expenditure is 2200.

To find out,

Find the saving?

Solution:

Let the expenditure of the family be 11x.

and the savings of the family be 4x.

As it is given, the expenditure = 2200

11x = 2200

x =  \frac{2200}{11}

x = 200

Now, the savings of family is:

4x =4(200) = 800

Therefore the savings of the family is 800.

Total income = Expenditure + Saving

Total income = 2200 + 800

Total income = 4000

Verification:

11x = 2200

11(200) = 2200

2200 = 2200
