Concept:

Income – Savings = Expenditure

If we receive a payment, we first allocate the money to savings and then spend whatever is left over after saving.

Given:

Y's Salary

To find:

Income = ₹3060

Ratio of expenditure of X, Y, and Z = 16:12:9

Savings=  20%, 25% and 40% of their income

Solution:

Income= Savings + Expenditure

20 {\%} = \frac{1}{5} \\ 25\% = \frac{1}{4}\\ 40 \% = \frac{2}{5}

Let the income of X,Y,X be x,y,z

Savings will be \frac{x}{5}, \frac{y}{4},  \frac{2z}{5y}

Expenditure = Income- savings

X= x-\frac{x}{5}= \frac{4x}{5}

Y=y-\frac{y}{4}=\frac{3y}{4}

z=z-\frac{2z}{5}= \frac{3z}{5}

According to the question:

\frac{4x}{5} : \frac{3y}{4}  : \frac{3z}{5} = 16: 12: 9

X:Y:Z = 20:16:15

Then,

Y's salary/ income = \frac{16}{51} * 3060= 960

Y's salary is ₹ 960.
