let common multiple be x
so, their incomes are 2x and 1x
and let their so expenditure be y
so, their expenditure are 3y and 1y
so according to condition
2x-3y=2000.....1
1x-1y=2000.....2
multiply 2 eqn by 2
so 2x-2y=4000.....3
so sub eqn 1 from 3
so we got ans
y= 2000
put value of y in eqn 1
so 2x-3×2000=2000
2x-6000=2000
2x=12000
x = 6000
so, their incomes are 2x and 1x
and let their so expenditure be y
so, their expenditure are 3y and 1y
