Given :-

Income : Savings = 5 : 3

And, savings = 2700

Let, the income be x

So, we can write :-

→ 5 : 3 :: x : 2700

Now, since this is Direct proportion, we know that

Product of extremes = Product of means

→ 5 × 2700 = 3x

\implies \sf x = \frac{5 \times 2700}{3}

\implies \sf x = 5 \times 900 \\<br /><br />\sf x = 4500

Now, since x = income = 4500 and savings = 2700, expenditure = income - savings

→ expenditure = 4500 - 2700

→ expenditure = 1800
