SOLUTION

TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT OPTION

The ratio of LCM and HCF of the least composite and the least prime numbers is

(a) 1 : 2

(b) 2 : 1

(c) 1 : 1

(d) 1 : 3

EVALUATION

We know that

Least composite number = 4

The least prime number = 2

Now

4 = 2 × 2

2 = 2

LCM = 2 × 2 = 4

HCF = 2

Hence the required ratio

= LCM : HCF

= 4 : 2

= 2 : 1

FINAL ANSWER

Hence the correct option is (b) 2 : 1
