A number that is divisible only by itself and 1 is called a prime number. For example 2,3,5,7,11,....

But the number 1 only and only divisible by itself. There is only one factor for 1. But the prime number has two factors. Every number Is divisible by 1. Thats why 1 is not considered as prime number.

Therefore, 2 is the smallest prime number.

A composite number is a positive integer which has more than two factors.

Negative numbers are typically not thought of as being composite, so we can eliminate that whole part of the number line.

0 is neither prime nor composite. The same is true for 1.

2 is prime, since its factors are 1 and 2.

3 is also prime, since its factors are 1 and 3.

Therefore,, the smallest composite number is 4, whose factors are 1,2, and 4.

Now, the ratio of the least prime number to the least composite number is as follows:

2:4

⇒1:2

Hence, the ratio of the least prime number to the least composite number is 1:2.
