Given:

A bar magnet

To find:

The ratio of magnetic induction along the axis to along the equator of a magnet.

Solution:

  • Magnetic induction at axial point = Baxial = μ₀2m / 4πr³
  • Magnetic induction at equatorial point = Bequ = μ₀m / 4πr³
  • Also, μ = 4π x 10⁻⁷ TmA⁻¹
  • Dividing Baxial and Bequ, we get,

        Baxial / Bequ = 2 / 1

  • Thus, the ratio of magnetic induction due to a bar magnet on its axial point and the equatorial point is 2:1.
