Answer is 200.

Using the given data, we first find marks scored by vinod and basu. Its 150 and 125 resptvly... Average of it is 137.5

they have told us that, their combined percentage is 68.75%

using this ... 137.5*100/68.75= 200

let the common factor of marks is x, obtained by Vinod and Basu
Marks of Vinod =6x

Marks of Basu = 5x

Sum of Marks =275

6x + 5x = 275 \\  \\ 11x = 275 \\  \\ x = 25 \\  \\
So,Marks of Vinod =6×25 = 150

Marks of Basu = 5×25= 125

Combined average is 68.75%,let the total marks of exam be y,so

 \frac{68.75}{100}  =  \frac{ (\frac{150}{y} +  \frac{125}{y} ) }{2}  \\  \\  \frac{137.5}{100}  =  \frac{275}{y}  \\  \\ y =  \frac{275 \times 100}{137.5}  \\  \\ y = 200 \\  \\

Thus,total marks for which exam was conducted were 200.

Hope it helps you.
