SOLUTION

GIVEN

The ratio of marks scored by Sia and Tia is 2:3, and that by Tia and Ria is 6:7.

Sia scored 48 marks

TO DETERMINE

The average of marks scored by Tia and Ria

EVALUATION

Here by the given

Sia : Tia = 2 : 3 = 4 : 6

Tia : Ria = 6 : 7

∴ Sia : Tia : Ria = 4 : 6 : 7

Let the marks got by Sia , Tia , Ria are respectively 4x , 6x , 7x

By the given condition

4x = 48

⇒ x = 12

Marks got by Tia = 6 × 12 = 72

Marks got by Ria = 7 × 12 = 84

Total Marks got by Tia and Ria

= 72 + 84

= 156

Hence the required average Marks got by Tia and Ria

 \sf =  \dfrac{156}{2}

= 78
