Milk : Water : Total

= 7 : 5 : 7 + 5

= 7 : 5 + 12

-

Find 1 part:

The mixture is 48 liters

12 parts = 48

1 part = 4 liters

-

Find original mixture:

Milk : Water

= 7 : 5

= 7 x 4 : 5 x 4

= 28 liters : 20 liters

-

New Ratio:

Milk : Water = 3 : 2

-

Find 1 part:

2 parts = 20 liters

1 part = 20 ÷ 2 = 10 liters

-

Find Water part:

3 parts = 10 x 3 = 30 liters

-

Find amount of milk to be added:

30 - 28 = 2 liters

-

Answer: 2 liters
