Given, The ratio of nickel and zinc in an alloy is 2 : 5

So, let the proportion of zinc and nuckel be 2x and 5x

Given, 56g of alloy.

According to the question,

5x + 2x = 56

7x = 56

x = \dfrac{56}{7}

x = 8

Zinc is 5 in the proportion

So, 5x

=> 5 × 8

=> 40

\therefore{} The proportion of zinc is 40 in the proportion

Here is your solutions

Given:-

The ratio of nickel and zinc in an alloy is 2 : 5

56g of alloy.

Let
The proportion of zinc and nickel be 2x and 5x

A/q

=>5x + 2x = 56

=>7x = 56

=>x = 8

Zinc is 5 in the proportion = 5x => 5 × 8 = 40

Hence

The proportion of zinc is 40gm in alloy

Hope it helps you
