Answer:

the number of girls may be admitted too make their ratio 4 : 3 is 60

Step-by-step explanation:

The ratio given for number of boys to the number of girls for  1440 students  is

=> 7:5

Let  the ratio constant be "x"

therefore, the number of boys is 7x  and the  number of girls is 5x

total no. of boys and girls is  1440

=> 7x + 5x = 1440

=> 12x = 1440

=> x = 1440/12

=> x = 120

therefore ,

the number of boys is 7 * 120 = 840

the number of girls is 5 * 120 = 600

Given in the question that 40 boys are admitted

so, the total strength of boys newly is 880

let "y" be the number of girls to be admitted

therefore ,

the new ratio is 880 : 600 + y = 4 : 3

=> 880 * 3 =( 600 + y ) * 4

=> 600 + y = 660

=> y = 60
